The band Skinny Jean. An Independent Brisbane band that plays melodramatic indie music. I got the chance to do some candid shots while they were working on their album. Big thanks to Zwn for the opportunity. Cheers! Formalities and introductions aside, this was one hell of an opportunity to further my photography skills, gain some exposure, and networking.

To me this was a great chance to try a hand in portrait photography, working with people, the whole experience was awesome, learning to control the focal plane to acquire bokeh (out of focus blur), working with a prime lens, chilling with the band, experiencing their passion for music, and witnessing the process of making an album.

Again big thanks to Zwn for lending me the 50 f/1.8

I swear I’m in love with that lens and I’ll definitely be getting the 50 f/1.4 this Christmas.

My other twin, (yes I found a twin brother of mine, looks nothing alike but, so alike in many other ways. i.e. being Malaysian, living in the same suburb in Malaysia, doing the same course, and the similar passion for photography.) decided to head down to sunshine coast during the mid-semester break, we drove down there in the afternoon not knowing where we were heading, we just knew we wanted to shoot some photos.

I always wanted to check out the Glasshouse mountains, so half way there, put that into the GPS and we were set. Arrived a couple of hours b4 sunset at the look out. and just started shooting like crazy.

Before leaving we were being eaten alive by mosquitos.

You can’t tell from this shot, but I fell in love with the 50mm.

This is my day job, being a design student. Interior design project – redesigning a childcare centre. This one took me a whole damn week to complete. Two days to get most of the modeling done, another 1.5 to get most of the rendering done and 4 hours to model the playground entrance only to redo it all over again in 2 hours after the computer decided to crash on me.

Walking about the beach waiting for a sunset. I remember in a previous post I mentioned being disappointed at not being able to see a round circular orange disc during sunset, but now I think I was lucky enough to catch this wonderful sunset, with the warm orange glow catching an interesting cloud formation.

The homes of the locals or workers of the resorts on Pulau Redang. Looking at this now and then back at my photographs from that trip I’m a little disappointed for not taking pictures of that bull dozer, it would have been an awesome subject during the sunset and would be great for a HDR.

Looking towards Laguna Island Resort during sunset. I think this has become a personal favourite of mine, a milestone of sorts in the continuously evolving HDR processing technique.

This was taken after the visit to Roma St Parklands for a photo shoot. Walking back to the bus station I entered this tunnel which was too good a shooting location to not stop and take some photos. The lights added some warmth to the place which was pretty drab save for the murals on the walls.

It was interesting trying to get the best out of the perspective

Coming out of the tunnel I came to a corner of the street and a pedestrian crossing. Which was odd because I’ve always seen them in black and white stripes not a green stretch. Again I tried playing with the lines leading into a cluster of buildings.

This part of the beach seems to be deserted and not well maintained. I wonder if it was ever a tourist beach, perhaps it was destroyed in one of those monsoon season.

Taken on the same day as the panorama before. Used the same technique HDR first then stitching. You could say I’m addicted already planning to do some more when we head up Mt Tamborine in a couple of weeks time.

Lighting up during the River Festival night, it was particularly colourful that night. On the fireworks itself I managed to get ZERO good shots. So no fireworks photos this year, maybe next.
