If you’ve ever been involved in any design process, you’ll soon learn that all designers take their work entirely too personal.
It’s a side-effect of the profession, and I’m not quite sure how to put
it, except to say that all designers treat their designs like children.
If you happen to criticize them, or say that you don’t like them, many
designers will take it personally (whether they say so or not).
An interesting article to the insight of a designer’s mind, and what they think of their brain child.
Not that I have ever taken your comments/critique personally, in fact I never do. Unless you really don’t know what you’re talking about in which case it’s more of me ignoring whatever you said instead of taking it personally.
But what is said in the above link is very true in the sense that when theres no clients involved, no money, just the designer, the canvas/document and his mind, the design itself often becomes personal, like a child, the older the child the less critique the designer is willing to take. And more often than not, the designer would ignore or take critique/comments personally.
Why because in our eyes the design is perfect, it is what we want, how we envisioned it, exactly how it would function and look to suit our needs/moods/personality. It is not a design ment for you or anyone else, and sure as hell not your taste in colour, composition and the rest.
